« Trombone,
trumpet, piano: this very rare combination is worth
underlining. This association is not an easy one and it requires the
elegance and the subtlety of the young trio Mirabassi/Boltro/Ferris
to bring out its quintessence. The delicacy of the album’s
discreet lyricism (Memento mores ) and the quality of the
hearing and exchange between those musicians, make it a delicate
album, lighter than the air we breathe, that we cannot do without. »

« …
Down on earth, Glenn Ferris reaches out into time and space, whereas
Flavio Boltro spreads out his volutes using a flowery language, while
Giovanni Mirabassi steps in as a singer-dancer, bringing with him his
fabulous harmonic notes ( Behind the white door), his elegant
appogiaturas and his communicative lyricism (Des jours meilleurs).
Nostalgia (Memento mores) never actually upsets the play and
sense of merriness of the whole project (Adèle et
papillon)… »
Arnaud Merlin - Jazzman
« Giovanni
Mirabassi achieves here an album which is at the same time atypical
and full of charm, that is in line with « chamber jazz »
without ever giving out any « loud and thunderous sounds,
nor any kind of sentimentality or languidness… The trio, with
its two brass instruments is of an extremely rare configuration in
jazz… The encounter of three specific and compatible
sonorities which have in common the love of song and a pronounced
taste for the art of conversation between actors of a small
get-together… Although Mirabassi is the composer of most of
the pieces, it is the talents of the three musicians brought together
which make this unusual trio an outstanding evidence. »
