« Giovanni
Mirabassi knows all about emotion reaching right out to the tips of
his fingers…when he lays them on the keys of his piano, it is
not only the melody of a song that he offers to us: the words,
the profound meaning, the poetry are expressed with as much
sensitiveness and respect as is the music itself. This is rare and
precious. As for me, listening two of his songs played on the piano
and interpreted by Giovanni Mirabassi, gives me the opportunity to
become the very spectator of my own pieces… It’s a
beautiful gift ! »
Agnès Bihl
« I’m
really moved, it’s beautiful… I recognize you so well,
and at the same time, I can feel the personal touch of my song, it’s
a fantastic sensation ! I’ve never heard such a lovely
adaptation of one of my songs, it’s incredibly stirring !
Thank you Giovanni for having thought of me for this project…
I give you a big hug for this ! »
Jeanne Cherhal
« In
fact, it’s a strange sensation. A song you can drink whose
words have been removed, but leaving in it the sensation of ecstasy.
A song with words to which the music has been stolen. A musette song,
which has been given a jazzistic twist. Its a strange feeling, a nice
feeling. It’s beautiful. »

« Mr
Mirabassi shakes out the branch where hang all the sonorous notes, in
the disorderly harmony of the foliage. » Serge Lama
« After
the revolutionary songs of Avanti, the piano solo of
Cantopiano this time borrows from the chanson française.
A subtle interpretation is revealed in all the different songs:
grave and romantic in Gainsbourg’s tortured declarations to
Manon ; playful and full of brio in J’ai pas le
temps d’avoir trente ans by Agnès Bihl ; C’que
t’es belle is played with spirit, mischievousness and
Alexis HK’s conviction ; sad and bitter for the little
girl of Sans titre by Jeanne Cherhal… And, last
but not least, the beautiful lyrical phrasing , which Giovanni
Mirabassi is so good at accompanies the moving ballad of La Fleur
du large (Bihl / Mirabassi), the sense of regret expressed
in J’aimerais tant savoir comment tu te réveilles
(Jehan / Dimey) and the love wound in Une île de Lama.
All so ravishing… And in an original way, Giovanni Mirabassi
is here the interpreter of his own compositions for the two songs by
Agnès Bihl ». Annie Staricky
